The UP SYSTEM INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOUNDATION, INC. is calling interested educators and professionals to participate in its 3-day series of training workshops about data and information security set to take place during the 13th YOUTH CONGRESS ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY on September 9, 10, & 11, 2015 at Meeting Room 13 of the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

12th Youth Congress on Information Technology (Y4iT 2014)

Join us and be a part of the most anticipated information technology (IT) event of the year in the Philippines – the 12th Youth Congress on Information Technology or Y4iT 2014! Y4iT 2014 shall be held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on September 10-12, 2014.

Y4iT, the biggest IT congress for the Filipino youth, is tapping into the limitless potential of the individual. The Youth Congress on Information Technology’s theme for 2014 is “Harnessing the Power of Me”. The theme revolves on the insightful use of IT with the goal of giving back to society. In the fast-paced and ever-changing world, IT plays a critical role in enabling individuals to realize their aspirations and commitments. As such, these individuals inspire their communities to be ever vigilant in the midst of environmental and developmental issues.

Established in 2003, the Youth Congress on Information Technology (formerly known as the Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology) – commonly known as Y4iT – is an annual information technology event in the Philippines, organized by the UP System Information Technology Foundation (UP SITF) in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Information Technology Development Center (UP ITDC). Since its launching, Y4iT has gone on to be at the forefront of information technology gathering events in the Philippines. Various relevant and exciting IT topics are presented and discussed.

Now on its twelfth year, Y4IT has continuously been the largest gathering of IT enthusiasts from all over the country. Y4IT aims to introduce students, faculty, professionals, and enthusiasts alike to current trends in information and communications technology, providing knowledge sources and opening for them learning and career opportunities in ICT.

Featured in the three-day congress are timely and relevant topics like Building a Digital Business, Big Data and Analytics, Business Development, Artificial Intelligence, Open Source Cloud Computing, Architecting Games in Unity, Freedom and Accountability Through the Internet, IT Virtualization and Security, Apple Technologies, Online Identity Branding and Protection, Java and The Internet of Things, Linux Professional Institute, Music Marketing, eLearning Technologies, Open Data, Technology for Disaster Assessment, Open Web, and many more. Aside from these, there will also be a number of side event activities which include student paper presentations, exhibits, and job fairs.

4th EDUC 190 International Webinar Series 2013-2014

Hello 2014!

The EDUC 190 (Computers in Education) classes of the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Education will be holding the 4th EDUC 190 International Webinar Series this 2nd semester 2013-2014! The webinars (or online seminars) are FREE and these will run from March 9 to March 22, 2014. The webinars will be organized by undergraduates mostly composed of education students. This online event is FREE for everyone but slots are limited and there are no reservations due to the limitation of the webinar platform.

4th EDUC 190 International Webinar Series

The topics range from the following: Technology Integration in Different Fields, Desktop and Mobile Apps for Education, or simply, topics in the realm of Educational Technology.

Presenters will be coming primarily from the classes along with possible guest speakers from different local and international academic institutions. The schedule of the webinars will be provided through a publicly viewable Google Spreadsheet. The webinar details (e.g. presenters’ names, webinar links) are posted on the spreadsheets.

The organizers will mostly be using the Blackboard Collaborate (formerly known as Elluminate Live!). If you plan to join and participate in the event, kindly check if your computer meets the following recommended Elluminate Live! System Requirements. It is recommended that you click the webinar link 15-30 minutes before the specific webinar so that you will have time to troubleshoot if ever you get to encounter technical problems. When you click a webinar link, a small Java file (JNLP) download will be sent to your computer. Hey there Math and Science Teachers! Grab this opportunity in attending a free, open to all seminar-workshop!

The EDUC 280 (Practice in Teaching) class of the UP College of Education will have a FREE seminar-workshop for Elementary and Secondary Math and Science Teachers. The name of the seminar-workshop is “IN na IN ka, sa Agham at Matematika – INquiry and INtegration in Science and Math“. This will be on May 14, 2012 at the Benitez Theater, College of Education, UP Diliman from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 n.n.

Parallel Sessions will be divided into 3 groups: Science (for grade 5-high school), Math (for high school) and Early Grades (Math and Science for K-2).
