Noel Feria is a trailblazer when it comes to the application of webinar platforms for teaching and learning in the University of the Philippines College of Education. After being able to present in online webinar conferences (e.g. Reform Symposium Conference and Global Education Conference) and moderate on several webinar sessions, he thought of inspiring his students to try it out – as a part of the challenge on trying something new for 30+ sessions of the course and the #learn365ph movement on social media.
Noel had successfully organized student-led free webinars on various topics in the realm of educational technology. Co-organizers and presenters of these conferences were composed of undergraduates (education students and sport science students in #EDUC190) and experts from different local and international institutions.
Here are some instances of the past #EDUC190 Webinar Series:
- 1st EDUC 190 Webinar Series (September 26 – October 4, 2012)
- 2nd EDUC 190 Webinar Series (March 10 – April 5, 2013)
- 3rd EDUC 190 Webinar Series (September 1 – October 1, 2013)
- 4th EDUC 190 International Webinar Series (March 9 – March 22, 2014)
Noel is also a member of the Global Outreach and Advisory Board of the Global Education Conference Network. The Global Education Conference is a collaborative, inclusive, world-wide community initiative involving students, educators, and organizations at all levels. It is designed to significantly increase opportunities for building education-related connections around the globe while supporting cultural awareness and recognition of diversity.
As part of Noel’s advocacy of being a connected educator, he was able to encourage students to also participate through presenting in online global education conferences such as the following events:
Noel continually empowers his former students that are now teachers in the real world to become globally connected educators and content creators.
